Introduction
A practical guide to healthier spaces, one room at a time
You don’t need a plan for your whole home. You need a plan for one room.
That’s the idea behind this path. Instead of trying to think about every wall, floor, and surface at once, we’ll walk through your home together, room by room. Each space has its own demands, its own opportunities, and its own character. What works in a bedroom doesn’t always suit a kitchen. What a bathroom needs, a hallway can do without.
We start where it matters most: the bedroom, where you spend a third of your life breathing deeply, mostly unconscious. From there we move to the kitchen (more air pollution than any other room), the bathroom (moisture, and the question everyone asks about natural materials), and the living room (where texture and personal style come into play). Along the way, we’ll cover the spaces people often overlook, and the practical knowledge that makes choosing materials less daunting.
Some of this is about health. Some of it is about comfort and beauty. Most of it is both.
A few things to know before you begin. You don’t need to follow these steps in order, though they build on each other if you do. You don’t need to act on everything at once; reading is a step too. And there is no finish line. A home changes as you do. Each room you improve becomes a better place to live in right away, regardless of what the next room looks like.
Pace yourself. Enjoy the process. Start with the room that calls to you.
