We touch dozens of surfaces each day without noticing. Pause for a moment and let your hands pay attention.
The Practice:
- Stand anywhere in your home.
- Find three different surfaces within arm’s reach — a wall, a piece of furniture, a textile.
- Touch each one slowly, with your full palm.
- Notice: Smooth or rough? Warm or cool? Does it have grain, weave, depth?
- Return to the one that feels most pleasant.
Notice:
- There’s no correct answer — just what your hand is drawn to. Texture is a kind of quiet conversation between material and skin.
- Over time, you may find yourself noticing which textures feel like home — and which feel like yours.
