The Surface Walk

Your floors aren’t just surfaces — they’re the ground you meet each morning. Before reaching for slippers, take a moment to feel.

The Practice:

  1. Remove your shoes and socks.
  2. Walk slowly from one room to another.
  3. Pause on each different surface — wood, tile, stone, carpet.
  4. Notice: Which feels warm? Cool? Smooth? Textured?
  5. Stand longest where your feet feel most at home.

Notice:

  • Your feet sense things your eyes miss — the warmth wood holds, the coolness stone carries, the softness that invites you to stay.
  • This isn’t about judging your floors. It’s about discovering what your body already knows about the materials beneath you.
