Osmo Polyx-Oil has become the benchmark for natural wood finishes, combining the nourishing qualities of oil with the protective durability of wax. Unlike surface coatings that sit on top of wood, this oil penetrates into the grain while waxes cure to form a micro-porous protective layer.

Why hard wax oil belongs in a healthy home:

• Natural ingredients: Based on plant oils (sunflower, soybean, thistle) and natural waxes (carnauba, candelilla). No biocides, no preservatives, no formaldehyde.
• Low VOC content: Meets strict European emissions standards. Any solvent smell during application dissipates quickly as the oil cures.
• Food-safe when cured: Certified safe for contact with food — suitable for kitchen worktops, dining tables, and children’s furniture.
• Micro-porous finish: Unlike polyurethane lacquers, the cured finish remains breathable. Wood can still exchange small amounts of moisture with the air, helping regulate indoor humidity.
• Repairable: Scratches and worn areas can be spot-repaired without sanding back the entire surface. Simply clean, apply more oil, and blend.

The clear satin finish enhances wood’s natural colour and grain without adding artificial shine. Oak becomes richer, pine warmer, walnut deeper. Each application brings out the unique character already present in the wood — knots, grain patterns, and subtle colour variations are celebrated, not hidden.

Application:

Apply thinly with brush, roller, or cloth to clean, dry, bare wood. Work in the direction of the grain. Allow 8-12 hours between coats. Two coats for most applications; three for high-wear surfaces like floors. Full cure in 14 days.
